WINNEMUCCA - The Lowry High School baseball team had two players named to the respective all-state teams. Calvin Connors was the Buckaroos' only first team choice, as he was selected as an outfielder.
Lowry's Jesse Studebaker was selected to the all-state, second team as a corner infielder. When he wasn't pitching, the senior played third base for the Buckaroos.
Players from the Division I-A North on the first team included pitchers Cody Kerns (Elko) and Tristen Salazar (Churchill County), designated hitter Tommy Hedley (Elko), corner infield Dalton Ridgway (Elko) and utility Jared Longland (Sparks).
The second team included pitcher Jordan Mann (South Tahoe), while the infield consisted of Aaron Pado (Truckee) and Dominic Diana (South Tahoe). Spring Creek's Austin Plank was chosen at catcher and Kyle Bryce (Fernley) and Zach Armstrong (Elko) grabbed the outfield spots for the Division I-A North.
Lowry had seven of its players named to the Division I-A North all-league teams.
Ridgway (Elko) was named the Player of the Year, while Elko's Shane Gilligan was chosen as the Coach of the Year.
Connor and Studebaker were chosen to the first team at outfield and corner infield, respectively.
The first team included Plank (Spring Creek) at catcher, Pado (Truckee), Diana (South Tahoe) and Ridgway (Elko) in the infield. The outfield was made up of Bryce (Fernley) and Armstrong (Elko), Hedley (Elko) was the designated hitter, Salazar (Churchill County), Kerns (Elko) and Mann (South Tahoe) were chosen as pitchers and Longland (Sparks) was named as the utility player.
Brandon Okuma (outfield) was the only Buckaroo named to the second team.
The rest of the second team included catcher Jackson Rolfe (Truckee), mid infield Casey Carter (Sparks) and JT Pete (Elko), corner infield Dalton Johnson (Churchill County) and Lane Newman (Spring Creek), outfield Edwin Salse (Fernley) and Phillip Benavides (Elko), designated hitter Kevin Montgomery (Fernley), utility Andy McKechnie (Truckee) and pitchers Hunter Mori (Churchill County), Tyler Sharp (South Tahoe) and Keifer Putnam (Sparks).
Tyler Brumm, Daniel Pollock, Michal Arenas and Tanner Lecumberry were named to the honorable mention squad for the Buckaroos.
Rounding out the honorable mention team were Dalton Frank, Cody Long and Nic Stenberg (Churchill County), Christian Coats (South Tahoe), Andrew Nelson (Fernley), Marcos Saylor, Jack Phillips and Nicky Selemi (Dayton), Dustin Alexander and Austin Garrick (Sparks), Levi Bliss and Blake Pruitt (Spring Creek) and Joe Bejarno, Chad Schumacher and Derek Ridgway (Elko).
The Buckaroos finished second in the Ruby Mountain League at 7-5, second in the Division I-A North at 8-4 and were 17-11 overall. Lowry reached the second round of the regional playoffs, but lost to Churchill County and Truckee to end its season.[[In-content Ad]]
