Two arrested after HCSO finds 25 pounds of marijuana in vehicle

WINNEMUCCA - Emerson Gage Hunt and Tana V. Swartz, of Massachusetts, were arrested Saturday, Feb. 23 on suspicion of transporting a controlled substance after Humboldt County Sheriff's Deputy Dave Walls, Sgt. Chris Aker, and K-9 Boots discovered approximately 25 pounds of suspected marijuana in their vehicle, according to an HCSO news release.

Deputy Walls stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation around 11 p.m. Saturday night headed eastbound near mile marker 176 on Interstate 80.

A search warrant was applied for through the Union Township Justice Court and, upon searching the vehicle, approximately 25 pounds of suspected marijuana were located in several individual bags, HCSO said.

Hunt and Swartz were arrested on suspicion of transporting a controlled substance and were booked into the Humboldt County Detention Center. Hunt was booked on $20,077 bail and Swartz was booked on $20,000.

At the time of the HCSO news release on Thursday afternoon, both subjects had posted bail and been released from the detention center.
