Truth or consequences? There is much wringing of hands about politicians' lies, little about search for the truth. Don't expect truth from the politicians who lie; their tongues would go up in flames merely speaking the words. It is a wonder to behold the lie they mouth in taking a "solemn oath" to protect and defend the constitution.
The most important lies are the lies we tell ourselves. The lie that we don't need to know the first principles of the founding of this country. The lie that we have not betrayed the men who pledged their lives, their fortunes, their sacred honor to stand against tyranny in establishing this country.
Yes Justice Roberts betrayed us. We, who practice the art of betrayal, were in turn betrayed. But the justice, who was neither liberal or conservative, also betrayed those men. He also lied to himself and sadly should know better.
We have been preached to by stupid "journalists" about conservative judges, liberal judges, activist judges, (but never objective judges) until we said it ourselves. Regardless of how justice Kennedy voted on this particular issue, until I am proven wrong, there are only three constitutionalists on the court and six incompetents.
The truth? Truth is the reality of fact. Lies were hope. Fact was change. Facts are we were conceived in liberty; we were created as a republic with a federal government of limited power, checks and balances and separation of powers. Facts are we the people of the states ceded more power to that federal government by the 16th and 17th amendments and then diminished the value of our vote by the 26th amendment. Facts are we stand by watching our children being indoctrinated by the central government in "public" schools while we pay for it.
We are adults much more ignorant than our children, we voted ourselves into a democracy. Yes, it is all so boring. One thing I feel sure of if we are stupid enough to re-elect the liars in Congress and the liar in the executive branch, our lives from then on will not be boring. A choice between evil and a lesser evil you say. The fact is there is no such evil as a lesser evil. Evil is evil.
This election is not about jobs. This election is about the complete loss of our liberty. Mitt Romney is probably a good man although a little confused as whether he can win by telling the truth. I urge him to lose the confusion and tell the truth. His tongue will not go up in flames, and more our fault if we refuse to hear it.
