The Trend Setters Volleyball Club traveled to Reno last weekend to compete among 160 western teams at the three-day National Qualifier.
Following six pool play matches during the first two days of the event, all teams were sorted into competitive eight-team single-elimination brackets on Sunday.
The Trend Setters won the quarterfinal match in two sets against Pinnacle Tahoe 25-22, 25-8. In the semifinals, the Trend Setters defeated a very scrappy Tropical Touch team from San Jose in three sets (22-25, 25-13, 15-11). The championship match between the Trend Setters and SynergyForce White from northern California was a great physical and mental battle.
Both teams exploited the other by mixing up power plays with finesse shots. Both teams made incredible saves and played relentless defense. Success at the serving line is what put the Trend Setters on top in a final score of 25-23, 21-25, 15-7.[[In-content Ad]]
