ELKO - Great Basin College and the National Weather Service in Elko have partnered to provide live Interactive Weather Spotter Training to rural Nevadans.
As part of the National Weather Service working toward becoming a Weather Ready Nation, this course will be offered to locations including Battle Mountain, Elko, Ely, Winnemucca, Wendover, McDermitt, Crescent Valley, Owyhee, Eureka, Austin, Tonopah and other locations from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 20.
The Spotter Training Course will be televised via two way interactive video to sites throughout northern and central Nevada. All sites will be able to ask questions and participate in real time.
The training session will cover the basics of thunderstorm development, fundamentals of storm structure, identification of severe weather features and methods to report severe weather to the National Weather Service. Your reports will provide communities precious seconds that can help save lives.
