WINNEMUCCA - A few members of the local TOPS #149 group (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) met with Raley's Assistant Store Director Greg Bermeosolo at the store on Dec. 19 to present him with a check for $770 as a donation to the Food for Families Drive.
TOPS members contributions were matched by the club, and Raley's will double the donation in food to the local food bank.
Marilyn Carden, leader of the TOPS #149 group, said that the group is open to anyone wishing to lose or maintain their weight and is designed to be a support group. She stated that the group conducts weekly weigh-ins and holds fun games and contests. The group meets weekly on Mondays at the Bode Howard recreational facility.
TOPS #149 Treasurer Janet Fontes said that the club presently has 21 members. There is a $5 per month membership fee and a $28 annual dues charge to help with the cost of awards and newsletters.
Member Saundra Lange said that the club will be going to Oahu on Feb. 1, 2012, for a TOPS retreat.
