Three local churches unite for ecumenical prayer services

WINNEMUCCA - St. Paul's Catholic Church, Word of Light Fellowship and the United Methodist Church of Winnemucca have united this holiday season to share in ecumenical prayer services. Ecumenism is the furthering of religious unity among the different Christian faiths.

Prayer services were held at St. Paul's by Fr. Jose Sobarzo on Dec. 8 and the focus was for world peace, according to Migdelia Ruiz, parish secretary.

There will be two more prayer services before Christmas but at different venues.

On Thursday, Dec. 15, a prayer service for community peace will be at the Word of Light Christian Fellowship given by Pastor Nathaniel Rhodes at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 4505 Center St.

A prayer service by Pastor Gayle Basten of the United Methodist Church of Winnemucca will be held on Dec. 22 at 6:30 p.m. The service will focus on peace in the family. The United Methodist Church is located at 138 W. Winnemucca Blvd.[[In-content Ad]]
