LOVELOCK - The Pershing County School District's new music teacher comes fresh out of BYU with a list of musical accreditations.
Bryan Ringo received his bachelors in music education from Brigham Young University-Idaho, where he served as the Band Council President, Student Director of the University Band and Section Leader for the Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and other chamber ensembles.
In Ashton, Idaho, he student taught the sixth through 12th grade band, choir and beginning guitar. After his student teaching tenure was up he taught ninth through 12th grade band, percussion and guitar and served as the interim music director for a Pre-K to eighth grade children's choir in Idaho Falls.
He says he is excited about his new post at PCHS and eager to mentor a new generation of musicians. This is his first full year of teaching at a school.
Ringo has been hard at work preparing his PCHS and PCMS students for their first concert of the school year. The Halloween Concert will incorporate the seventh to 12th grade Symphonic Band and Choir in a combination of festive music with song and drama.
"I think this is something that probably hasn't been seen here before," Ringo said.
He said while the concert will have some definite Halloween moments, it is still child and family friendly.
The concert will be held in the PCHS auditorium at 7 p.m. on the day before Halloween, Oct. 30. The concert is free but there will be a donation jar at the door.
"The donations will be used to help fund choir and band activities through the rest of the year," Ringo said.
Ringo plans many more activities for both choir and band students; attending various honor band and choir performances.
Ringo said he is trained in all instruments except the trumpet. The French horn and piano are his specialty instruments.
He now lives in Lovelock with his wife of four years and two children. He also conducts private lessons, in piano, guitar and vocals at his home studio.
