LOVELOCK - A teardrop trailer gathering, or campout, "Twain and Tears," will be held this weekend at Moeha Walker Memorial Park in Unionville. This gathering has been organized by Lovelock Teardrop owners Debbie and Randy Pontius.

Teardrop trailers are known by their tiny size (most no longer than 10 feet) and shape (resembling a teardrop on its side). Teardrop trailers also have a chuckwagon-type kitchen that opens in the back, rather than inside, and have generally nothing more than a bed and some storage inside.

Some are homebuilt, some are restored from the 1940s, and some are brand new purchased commercial types. Teardrop owners, or Teardroppers, like their ease of towing and great gas mileage they give their owners. Most teardroppers started out as tent campers but now want something a little bit more. Yet they don't see themselves as RV people. And they love to camp in group! About 13-15 trailers from all over northern California and Nevada will be coming. In addition to the Pontius' from Lovelock, the Lott family from Lovelock will be there, and some from as far away as the bay area. If you are interested in these little trailers, you are welcome to come up to Unionville and take a look. Teardroppers are used to giving tours wherever they go!
