WINNEMUCCA - Winnemucca Police Department officers responded to Winnemucca Gas and Liquor Store at 399 W. Minor St. Saturday for a report of a robbery.
According to a WPD news release, a male suspect entered the store and attempted to shoplift two bottles of liquor. The clerk attempted to interrupt the theft when the suspect struck the clerk in the head and fled the scene.
WPD officers were able to develop suspect information with the assistance of Winnemucca police detectives and Bureau of Indian Affairs police. The suspect was identified as Zane Kelly, 20. He was arrested at a local motel on Sunday without incident. Kelly was arrested for suspicion of robbery and booked into the Humboldt County Jail. His bail was set at $20,000.
