LOVELOCK - Local rodeo promoters MKC Rodeo Productions held a steak and lobster dinner April 20 as a fundraiser for the group's Hell on Hooves Rodeo to be held in Lovelock Sept. 14-15.
MKC member DeWayne Kulbeth said the group sold 135 tickets to the dinner.
"For our first time doing this, it was a great, a real good time and learning experience. We are looking forward to doing it again," Kulbeth said.
"The dinner was delicious. It was a fun evening," said dinner attendee Reina Youngberg.
Besides the dinner, the auction was the highlight of the evening. Auctioneers Darin Bloyed, Mike Dewitt and a guest auctioneer from Baxton Auctioneers entertained the crowd while raising money for the rodeo.
Kulbeth said he was thankful for the support those attending the dinner gave to the Hell on Hooves Rodeo.
"The people who showed up really supported the auction," Kulbeth said.
He estimated that the group made between $2,000 and $3,000 on the dinner and auction.
"This was a good learning experience. Next time we will know what to do and what not to do. It will only get better. Most importantly, it showed us that the local community really does want the Hell on Hooves to continue coming to Lovelock. It's great family entertainment and helps support the local economy," Kulbeth said.
The Hell on Hooves Rodeo is sanctioned by the California Cowboy Professional Rodeo Association. It will have rough stock events such as bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding.
"It is a professional rodeo," Kulbeth said.
