Summer Reading Program ends with a party

WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County Library celebrated with a wrap-up party for the Summer Reading Program on Friday, Aug. 2.

There were multiple games to play, and numerous prizes and awards which were given out. Library officials also announced this year's top readers for the program: K-2nd - Dakota Grady; 3rd-4th - Martin Lopez; 5th-6th - Marley Pidot; 7th-8th - Tanner Ames; 9th-12th - Madailein Van Straten.

Over 550 children signed up at the Humboldt County Library, bookmobile, and McDermitt and Denio branch libraries to participate in this year's Summer Reading Program.

Of those who signed up, 295 completed the program by turning in at least one time sheet. There were a total of 18,542 books read over the summer for a total of 449,660 minutes between those participating. Congratulations readers!

This year's program would not have been possible without the support from our wonderful community of donors and public, library staff said.

Be sure to watch for book clubs which will be starting again in September. Also coming in September will be an English & Spanish bilingual Story Time, and also a new Saturday Story Hour for all ages. Story Times and Baby Bounce will continue at their usual weekly times.
