LOVELOCK - In conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 7 - 13 the Lovelock Volunteer Fire Department took pre-k through fourth grade students from Lovelock Elementary School on a tour of the Lovelock Firehouse where they learned about fire safety and prevention.
The field trip is an annual event looked forward to by the firefighters as much as the students. During their stay at the firehouse students toured the various trucks including the ambulance.
"Most of the kids wanted to know how fast the ambulance goes," Lovelock Volunteer Firefighter Charlie Brockway said.
During the assembly style class students learned about not playing with matches and having a safe meeting place in case of an emergency among other topics. The tour is an annual event sponsored by the Lovelock Volunteer Fire Department.
"Educating the children helps the fire department do their job," Brockway said.
