LOVELOCK - Oct. 4 was apple picking day for kids of all ages at Luke's Orchard. First on the scene were the first-grade classes of Jennifer Fecht, Donna Beck and Emilee Houston of Lovelock, and students of Tashia Spradley and Robert Meldrum from Imlay school. Around 60 students arrived shortly before noon, and enjoyed their sack lunches in the lovely yard of Lesley Luke.
Bruce Luke gives a great tour of the orchard, explaining the different apples and allowing for a taste by the kids to see if they like the apples from a tree, before they pick a bag full.
Later in the afternoon around 2:30 p.m. two busses arrived from the Senior Center with about 20 seniors. Picking and a beautiful day was enjoyed by all, and for those up to it, Lesley Luke gave an informative tour of her beautiful rose garden.
