LOVELOCK - Pershing County High Student Body President Nico Ambata-Rodriguez was recognized for his recent election as Division III Vice President for the Nevada State Association of Student Councils.

County commissioners honored the junior with a county certificate of achievement presentation at last week's commission meeting.

Commission Chairman Darin Bloyed read a statement of recognition for Rodriguez.

"This is a very special honor and something you had to work hard for. Congratulations on your achievement and thanks for representing Pershing County and Pershing County students in the best possible ways. We really appreciate it."

Secondary school counselor Matthew Schottel confirmed that Nico's high level of school involvement, assistance and leadership qualities make him worthy of the recognition by county officials.

"He helps me with leadership activities all the time. He's willing to help out anytime he can, any way he can, as long as he needs to," Schottel said. "He's in sports, cheerleading, leadership, the academic team and is at the top of his class. He's an impressive student."[[In-content Ad]]
