BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School Student Council, under the leadership of Sondra Torgerson, exemplify what quality student leaders should be.
These students work tirelessly to make our school better each day. They inspire school spirit, recognize and reward students and staff for good works and dedicate hours in school and community service.
In the 2012-13 school year, they have sponsored three Homecoming weeks, a cancer awareness month and fundraiser, food drives for the needy, bullying awareness and anti-bullying activities, and numerous student recognition programs and activities.
This past week they had their annual "Passing the Torch" ceremony to kick off next year's leaders and say thank you to the outgoing officers. Their efforts are to be commended.
