Stronger Economies Together Team Meets in Winnemucca Aug. 8

Team Focuses on Assets and Removing Obstacles to Economic Development

WINNEMUCCA - The Stronger Economies Together (SET) Regional Team will meet in Winnemucca Aug. 8 to continue its work to develop a regional strategic plan for an eight-county area of western Nevada. The team will be identifying additional assets and potential barriers to economic development in the region.

The SET meeting will take place at the Winnemucca Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Anyone interested in learning more can contact Bill Sims, with the Humboldt Development Authority and Nevada Small Business Development Center at (775) 623-1064.

The SET strategic planning process is a 10-month process for the Western Nevada Development District, which is comprised of the eight counties in rural western Nevada: Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, Mineral, Churchill, Storey, Pershing and Humboldt as well as the incorporated cities and tribes within them.

The Nevada SET is a collaborative effort of the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development, the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, the Governor's Office of Economic Development, and the University Center for Economic Development and other federal, state and local entities working to enhance economic opportunities in Nevada.

The costs for the meeting in Winnemucca are partly funded by a donation from Allied Nevada Gold Corporation's Hycroft mine in Humboldt County.
