Clay Stremler turned in a ninth-place finish at the National High School Finals Rodeo that concluded this past Saturday in Rock Springs, Wyo.
Stremler was sixth after the first go-around that concluded last Wednesday morning and he completed his second ride last Wednesday night with a score of 64 points to finish second in the performance and seventh in the go-around.
Stremler, who won the Nevada state title in saddle bronc, advanced to the short go-around on Saturday but didn't record a score and finished ninth overall. Stremler rode as an independent.
After recording no time in the first go-around of goat tying, Savannah Montero finished third in her performance on Friday evening with a time of 8.1 seconds. The two-time Nevada state champion in goat tying placed seventh in the go-around, but did not reach the short go-around.
Luke Logan competed for Humboldt County in the saddle bronc and recorded no scores in each of his two performances. Dawson Cassinelli took part in the bull riding and did not stay on for the full eight seconds in either performance.
Marcus Theriot of Polarville, Miss., was the all-around cowboy with 1,810 points. Brady Norman of Springer, Okla., was second at 1,300 and Cooper Martin of Alma, Kan., was third at 1,030.
Mia Manzanares of Opelousas, La., was crowned the all-around cowgirl with 1,000 points. Ashton Glascock of Hartsburg, Mo., was second at 740. LeighAnn Scribner of Edgewood, N.M., was third at 660.
Tanner Green of Cotulla, Texas, was crowned the rookie cowboy with 590 points and Karson Bradley of Big Piney, Wyo., was the rookie cowgirl with 450 points.
The individual national champions included Logan Berg, Manden, N.D., (bareback riding), Lindsey McLeod, Whitesboro, Texas, (barrel racing), MiKayla Harrison, Elk City, Okla., (breakaway roping), Bobby Vaughn, Dorris, Calif., (bull riding), Sadee Smith, Star, Idaho, (girls cutting), Samray Hooper, Andrews, Texas, (boys cutting), Manzanares (goat tying), Lily Tillery, Visalia, Calif., (pole bending), Sam Terry, Nebo, Queensland, Aus., (saddle bronc), Tristan Martin, Sulphur, La., (steer wrestling), Tyler Milligan, Pawhuska, Okla./Brady Morman, Springer, Okla., (team roping) and Cooper Martin, Alma, Kan., (tie-down roping).
Oklahoma won the team championship with 8,461 points. Nevada finished 21st, with the girls 17th and the boys 25th.[[In-content Ad]]
