WINNEMUCCA - The Nevada State High School Rodeo Association is starting to wind down its regular season as the clubs competed in Washoe County on Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12.
Humboldt County's Josh Dufurrena partnered with Dakota Feyder to win the team roping on May 11 with a time of 8.03 seconds. Dufurrena tied for third place in the tie-down roping on May 12 in a time of 18.77.
Cole Stremler picked up a victory in the saddle bronc on May 12 with a score of 64 points. The only other rider to record a score was Chance Guerrero with 63 points. Four Humboldt County riders are currently in the top six of the season-long saddle bronc standings. Clay Stremler is first, followed by Cole Stremler. Luke Logan is fourth and Shaun Mentaberry is sixth.
Shaynee Monchamp had a strong weekend with three top-10 finishes. She placed second in the barrel racing on May 11 at 18.091. Aspyn Civil won the event in a time of 17.992. Monchamp finished fifth in the barrel racing on May 12 at 18.086 and was eighth in the breakaway roping in a time of 4.61.
Savannah Montero had four top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place outing in cutting with a score of 71 on May 11. In the same performance, Montero placed sixth in goat tying with a time of 8.93.
In the May 12 performance, Montero was third in goat tying at 7.50 and she was sixth in cutting with 67 points.
Montero is currently ninth in the women's all-around standings with 251.50 points. She is currently second in the goat tying standings and seventh in cutting.
Jake Logan and Luke Logan finished fourth in the team roping on May 11 with a time of 10.72 and Jake Logan placed eighth in the tie-down roping on May 11 at 21.35.
Randi Buchanan and Dakota Feyder were named the all-around cowgirl and cowboy, respectively, on May 11. Hayley Dalton-Estes and Wyatt Thomas earned reserve honors and Abby Estes and Cord Hendrix were chosen as the rookie cowgirl and cowboy.
Aspyn Civil and Thomas picked up all-around honors on May 12. Ashley Martinkus and Feyder were named the reserve all-around winners and Estes and Ross Peters were the rookie cowgirl and cowboy.
The Humboldt County Rodeo Club travels to Eureka on Saturday and Sunday to close out the regular season. The Nevada State High School Rodeo Finals will take place June 13-16 in Fallon.[[In-content Ad]]
