Steve Stevenson passed away Sept. 16, 2011, as a result of a hunting accident in Lincoln County, Mont., near the Canadian border. Born Dec. 11, 1971, in Yerington, he grew up and attended school in Winnemucca.
In 1989, Steve started his mining career with Marigold Mining Company. He also worked for Viper Glass and served as manager of Fast Glass. He worked at different area gold mines over the years, most recently at Hycroft Mining Allied Gold.
Steve married Rhonda Omoth on July 8, 1995, in New Rockford, N.D. They made their home in Winnemucca where their daughters, Anna and Mara, were born.
An avid outdoorsman, Steve loved hunting, fishing, his friends and, most importantly, his family. He was a loyal friend, always willing to lend a helping hand. He took pride in breeding bird dogs. His Brittanie Spaniels are owned by friends and hunters in Winnemucca and throughout northern Nevada.
Steve will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his baby brother, Todd; all his grandparents; and his brother-in-law, Johnathan Berglund.
Arrangements are being handled by Albertson Funeral Home. A service is tentatively planned for Friday, Sept. 23, with location and times to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at Wells Fargo Bank in Steve's name.
