Steve Ferreira, 60, of Winnemucca, Nev., went home to his Lord and Savior, Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, surrounded by his family. Steve was born Dec. 16, 1954, in Decoto, Calif., the son of Stephen and Rosella Ferreira.
Steve went to school in East Grand Forks, Minn., and served in the U.S. Marines for four years. He attended welding school and worked in Chicago, Ill., until he moved to Lakeport, Calif., working with his father at Ferreira Trailer Sales.
In 1990 he went into mining working for Homestake and in 1997 moved to Winnemucca, Nev., and began working for Newmont Mining.
Steve enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. Steve also enjoyed boating and camping and spending time with faithful dog, Cricket. Survivors include his wife, Carrie, Winnemucca, Nev.; sisters, Pat (Larry) Lizakowski, of Grand Forks, N.D.; JoAnn (Jon) Brundin, of Grand Forks, N.D.; Roseann (Tim) Lund, of Fargo, N.D.; Stephanie (Rick) Alexander, of San Diego, Calif.; Sandy (Mike) DeVoto and Cindy (Mike) Lewandowski ,both of W. University Place, Wash.; and many nephews and nieces. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Grass Valley Baptist Church, 4150 W.
