BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Nevada Bureau of Air Pollution Control announced last week that it plans to issue an air quality operating permit for a proposed molybdenum mine in Eureka County.
The proposed permit would allow Eureka Moly LLC to build and operate a moly mining and processing facility at its Mt. Hope Project, which is located off state Route 278 about 23 miles north of Eureka.
Under the bureau's tentative determinations, emissions of particulate matter from the facility could not exceed 97.9 tons per year. Annual emissions of nitrogen oxides would be capped at 61.9 tons per year, while sulfur dioxide emissions would be limited to 98.2 tons per year.
The proposal also sets the maximum for releases of volatile organic compounds at 52.6 tons per year, and caps annual carbon monoxide emissions at 22.2 tons.
The bureau does not expect that the proposed operations would have adverse impacts on ambient air quality in the surrounding area.
