State insurance commissioner to host town hall meeting in Winnemucca Topics to include health care reform

These informative town hall meetings will provide the opportunity for citizens of Nevada's rural communities to learn about the services offered by the Division of Insurance.

Kipper and the DOI staff will be speaking about the wide range of insurance issues that affect Nevadans in their everyday lives. Topics will include homeowner's and renter's insurance, health insurance and how health care reform is affecting Nevadans today.

There will also be a question and answer session where the public will be able to ask Kipper and the staff any questions they may have about insurance.

The meeting in Winnemucca will be held on Monday from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Humboldt County Library, 85 E. Fifth St. (please park on the side streets).

The Elko meeting will be held on Monday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Elko County Library, 720 Court St. The Ely meeting will be held on Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the White Pine County Library, 950 Campton St.

The Division of Insurance is the Nevada state agency that protects the rights of Nevada consumers and ensures the financial solvency of insurers. In 2011 it investigated nearly 2,000 consumer complaints and recovered a record $6.7 million on behalf of consumers.
