Humboldt County will be sending 35 athletes to Reno this weekend for the 2014 Special Olympics Northern Nevada Bowling Regionals at the National Bowling Stadium.
The athletes, both students and adults, have been practicing for the past eight weeks to get ready for the tournament. Humboldt County just added an adult team this year. Nearly 350 athletes from northern Nevada are expected to compete.
Louis Mendiola and Rick McComb from Humboldt General Hospital was on hand on Thursday, Nov. 6, to give the group a $200 to help with expenses in the trip.
Pam Barber is the new head coach for the adults. There are 15 volunteer coaches and two peer coaches from Lowry High School.
Anthony Barber is an assistant coach from Winnemucca Junior High School.[[In-content Ad]]
