Soroptimist International of Winnemucca presents annual awards

WINNEMUCCA - Soroptimist International of Winnemucca held its first Shop Winnemucca Shopping Spree fundraiser. It was a huge success and the lucky winner was Karen Johnson. The SI organization would like to thank everyone who purchased a raffle ticket. The funds raised will help with two awards given annually by SI Winnemucca: The Violet Richardson award goes to a young lady (age 14-17) who volunteers in the community. The Women's Opportunity Award is given to a woman who is head of household and is furthering her education to get back into the work place. This year the recipient for the Violet Richardson Award is Carli Evatz; the recipient for the Women's Opportunity Award is Sateana Shemp. Each year SI Winnemucca also gives one or two scholarships to a senior girl who is graduating from McDermitt High School and/or Lowry High School.
