On Thursday Oct. 9, the kindergarten classes at Sonoma Heights Elementary School were treated to a public safety lesson by local law enforcement, EMS, and BLM firefighters. The event included hugs from Smokey Bear, tours of the police cars, ambulance, and firetruck, as well as important lessons regarding seat-belt use, pedestrian safety, and 911. Humboldt General Hospital Ambulance and Rescue, Winnemucca Police Department, BLM Fire, and Nevada Highway Patrol participated and provided the young students with an exciting morning complete with lights and sirens.
