In the past the top four finishers in each event at the end of the state finals advanced to the national finals, while the fifth through 10th finishers moved on to the Silver State International Rodeo. This year the finishers from fifth to 15th place at the end of the state finals will now make their way to Winnemucca for six days of competition starting on Monday morning with boys and girls cutting.

Traditionally, the multi-day rodeo competition brings about 500 young competitors along with their families to the community every year. Contestants will be vying for two beautiful three-horse slant horse trailers that will go to the all-around cowboy and cowgirl along with saddles for winners in each event. The Silver State International Rodeo was based in Fallon for 25 years before being moved to Winnemucca last summer.

The second go-around of cutting will take place on Tuesday at 7 a.m., with the finals on Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. The first rodeo performance begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. There will be two performances of rodeo action on each day throughout the week at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., except on Saturday, July 7, when the top 15 finals will take place at 10 a.m.

The Silver State International Rodeo queen will be presented during the grand entry at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 6, prior to the start of the eighth performance at 7 p.m. Another addition this year is the Fourth of July parade that will take place at noon on Wednesday and will take place on Winnemucca Boulevard.

There will be other events for the competitors to enjoy, including mud volleyball, nightly dances, a barrel race jackpot, roping jackpots and a trap shoot.

A number of Humboldt County Rodeo Club members will be participating, including Savannah Montero, DeeAnna Pasquale, Sharon Sherburn, Clay Stremler, Cole Stremler, Bobby Hoenck, Josh Dufurrena, Jeffery Anderson and Josh Harrer.
