SHIRLEY ADELE MAESTRETTI WINROD

SHIRLEY ADELE MAESTRETTI WINROD, age 84, passed away on July 20, 2012, in Battle Mountain after a short illness. She was born July 24, 1927, to Lee and Rene Maestretti in Fallon and had been a lifetime resident of Austin, Nev.

Shirley attended school in Austin, graduating High School in 1945. She met her future husband, Charles Winrod and they were married in 1953. They had two children: daughter, Darla born in 1954 and son Jay born in 1957. Shirley stayed at home with the children while Charles worked construction and mining throughout Nevada. She was an Eastern Star and attended St. George's Episcopal Church. In her later years, Shirley enjoyed meals and helping at the Austin Senior Center.

She is survived by daughter, Darla Cantrell (husband Mitch) and their children, Michelle Andreola (husband Paul) and Cord Cantrell, son, Jay Winrod (wife Roberta) and their children, Jeffrey, Daniel, and Ryan Winrod. Shirley is also survived by sisters-in-law Mary Louise Gipe Phillips and Bonnie Maestretti, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friend, Dom Luiz, and many other friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Bert & Millie Acree, grandparents, Will & Maggie Maestretti, parents, Lee & Rene Maestretti, husband Charles Winrod and brother, Stanley (Butch) Maestretti.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at the Austin Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Austin Town Hall. At our family's request, donations can be made to St. George's Episcopal Church in Austin in lieu of flowers.
