WINNEMUCCA - Starting Oct. 2, the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office will begin its annual Citizens Academy. This will be the third consecutive academy. This course will run for seven consecutive Tuesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to about 9 p.m. Those interested in participating must be at least 18 years old and have no felony convictions. Attendees will be introduced to numerous law enforcement topics such as: basic Nevada law/the criminal justice system; investigation of sex crimes; accident investigations; investigating domestic abuse cases; drug investigations; police use of force; history of the HCSO; death investigations.
For those who have an interest in what the job of a law enforcement professional actually entails, this Academy is a great opportunity to gain very basic knowledge and education, according to a HCSO news release. Attendees from previous academies have all given very positive critiques of their experience.
