Sheriff Kilgore thanked for taking a stand

Editor:

Regarding Sheriff Ed Kilgore's letter to Vice President Joe Biden, I applaud him for taking a stand on behalf of the citizens of Humboldt County. Sometimes taking action before a nefarious bit of legislation becomes an actual law is better and smarter than waiting until it's too late. Once a law is passed, it's almost impossible to reverse or abolish it.

To call the county's top law enforcement officer a "King" is insulting and demeaning. Thank God we have a man like Sheriff Kilgore, who has the authority to make known to people at the federal level that he wholeheartedly disapproves of any legislation that would negate the Second Amendment to our Constitution.

To quote from the Second Amendment, "a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." Webster defines militia as "a military force that is not part of a regular army and is subject to call for service in an emergency." In other words, they are civilians. They won't be called to shoot rabbits or deer. A Socialist government hates having a well-armed militia.

It's been said that "to let evil succeed is for good men to do nothing!" Thank you, Sheriff Kilgore, for standing up to evil, and doing something about it.
