Sheriff Ed Kilgore is hosting his annual open house Tuesday, March 11 at 6 p.m. and members of his interdiction team have a short course planned on how criminal interdiction is conducted; Kilgore will also discuss his State of the Sheriff's Office Report for 2013.
The event will be held at the Winnemucca Convention Center in the East Hall in the Silver State Room.
The sheriff's office also has its second annual 420 Group Drug Investigation Conference scheduled next month. Over 140 law enforcement officers from across the U.S. will be attending, according to a release from Kilgore.
"Courses will cover various topics concerning the latest tactics involved in investigating and combating the drug problem," the release said.
Topics include, law, drug interdiction and K9 enforcement.
The sheriff's office has developed a multi-faceted strategy to combat the drug problem in Humboldt County, according to the news release, and the three parts of the strategy are: education, cooperation and aggressive enforcement.
The release mentions lawsuits filed against the county concerning its interdiction efforts, adding no specific comments can be made because those cases are in the process of litigation.[[In-content Ad]]
