We lost a 5-month-old cat due to the wild for feral cat virus. This is one of the reasons we NEED to get a shelter for cats on the street. We are in fear of losing another who just recently caught it. The vet said if she isn't better to take her to them for antibiotics. Please help save our cats and your cats. Winnemucca needs to be free of the wild cats. That's why we need a shelter. We have a facebook page called CATS HAVE RIGHTS TOO! There are lots of reasons we need a shelter. Here's a list:
1. Save the stray kittens around so they can survive.
2. Get the mothers fixed before they get pregnant again.
3. Get the males fixed so they can't reproduce.
4. Catch them to reduce them from spreading the wild cat disease.
5. Put the cats on antibiotics if they have the disease to stop the risk of spreading it.
6. Catching the cats and fixing them helps reduce cat overpopulation.
7. Having a shelter for cats helps reduce animal abuse for the people who catch them and thinks it is funny and okay to torture them.
8. Catch them to reduce the spread of other infectious diseases that spread to other animals other than cats.
There may also be plenty of other reasons that may come with feral cats, but we do need a shelter for these cats for these reasons and plenty of other reasons. The diseases that some of them have spread to cats, dogs and mice, which spread it to whatever eats them and many more animals. We need more people to join us for this cause as well as catching kittens to find them better homes then on the streets. Join the group on Facebook for support as well. I believe the community needs to do this to save these animals. If these animals are saved, the better the chance it will have in saving other animals from dying from the diseases. We can take them to the vet to get rid of the diseases that get spread as well. I hope people understand the issue at hand.
