LOVELOCK - The Pershing County Senior Center had 19 entries in the Cookie Bake- Off. The contest was held Dec. 1 in the foyer of Valley Plaza, which houses A Little Something variety shop and Temptations ice cream and coffee shop.
Chelsea Montes and Brandy Cooney won first place with their cowboy cookies and Nikki Talcot won second and third places with her chocolate Christmas cookies and macaroons.
Cookie bakers and passersby were able to enter the senior center raffle or take a guess at how many Christmas ornaments were in a beautiful crystal vase, which was donated by Linda Whyte, for a chance to win the filled vase.
The vase is now on display at the senior center. Stop by and enter your guess. Guesses are 50 cents each and you can guess as often as you would like.
"This year we are taking a break from the Christmas Tree Raffle and are having a Christmas raffle with lots of exciting prizes available," Pershing County Senior Center Director Barbara Tobin said.
The center has over 20 prizes to be raffled at lunch on Dec. 24. Tickets are on sale at the center for six tickets for $5. The winner of the vase will be announced at the same time.
In other senior center news, the center was unable to book the Lovelock Community Choir for an evening concert this year, so the choir will perform at lunch on Dec. 21.
