SCRAP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ANNOUNCES NEW PARTNERS IN CAMPAIGN TO END ABUSE IN NEVADA

WINNEMUCCA - Scrap Domestic Violence (ScrapDV) has announced new partnerships with Nevada based gold mines Great Basin Gold Hollister and Hycroft Mine in the fight to end domestic violence.

ScrapDV, a charitable organization, envisions a world where all domestic violence service programs can effectively help survivors of domestic violence and their families achieve their full potential by financing and supporting survivors' education, income stability, healthy relationships and healthy homes, according to a news release.

ScrapDV will use donations received from Great Basin Gold Hollister and Hycroft Mine to grant essential funding to Nevada based nonprofit organizations that provide programs and resources targeted to address domestic violence and will also begin a statewide domestic violence awareness initiative.

The state of Nevada consistently leads the nation in cases of reported domestic violence and abuse, almost doubling the national average. ScrapDV aims to bring together the mining, industrial, and manufacturing companies to take on the role of recycling their scrap to fund domestic abuse programs within the state.

"With each and every donation, large and small, we are one step closer to protecting the health and welfare of victims of domestic abuse within the state of Nevada. Statewide statistics on abuse are horrifying and we need to band together to break those cycles," said JoAnn Casalez, executive director of ScrapDV.

Earlier this year partnerships with CarWil, Boart Longyear and AMS were announced as were donations received from the Goldcorp Marigold Mine, Humboldt General Hospital and Graymont Inc. ScrapDV funds programs whose primary focus is to help victims of domestic violence. Each program ScrapDV funds helps improve facilities and services that encourage survivors to reach their fullest potential and achieve self-sufficiency through encouragement, case management, accountability, awareness and trust in a positive and secure environment.
