BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Some have said this year's Red Ribbon Week may have been the best yet! Red Ribbon is the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention program. The local theme was, "Dream it, Believe it, Achieve it."

Students were involved in a variety of activities DK - eighth grade. Monday, Oct. 31, all students traced their hand, wrote their name and put a dream theme of theirs on it. They posted it on their classroom door. Other activities included Amazing Me, Follow Your Dream, wear pajamas day, the Montana Meth Project on the web (sixth, seventh and eighth grades) and amazing and inspirational speakers at each school.

Mitch Domagala spoke at the junior high about setting goals and sticking to them. Toby and Lana Melver spoke at both the junior high and Lemaire using the analogy of an apple to deliver their insightful message. Dr. Todd Thompson also talked to the Lemaire students about dreams and goals as did Teron Unger and Cole Whole. Unger and Whole spoke again at Battle Mountain Elementary School along with Tyler Sparks. They encouraged their young audience to dream, believe and you will achieve. Finally, the Longhorn Youth Team visited classes, giving students bracelets with the theme on them.

Check out the BMJH outside wall. Jill Paull and her high school art students did the art work and painting. It is a beautiful reminder of this year's theme and to remain true to your dreams and not the attraction of drugs. Students and the general public may purchase a chain for $3. Proceeds go to the BMJH library. See Cindy Clark or Carrie Jo Stewart to purchase your chain. Let's start a positive chain reaction.
