School of Medicine offers rural training for caregivers of older adults

Sessions scheduled in Elko, Winnemucca in March

RENO - The University of Nevada School of Medicine's Nevada Geriatric Education Center is offering free training sessions in Elko and Winnemucca in March for anyone caring for older adults.

The presentations are entitled "Healthy Aging: Growing old with Gusto" and "Coping with Changes of Alzheimer's Disease and Other Mental Health Disorders" and will be given on the following dates:

• March 14 from 1:15 to 4:45 p.m. -- at The Terrance at Ruby View, 1795 Ruby View Drive in Elko.

• March 15 from 8:15 to 11:45 a.m. - at Pleasant Senior Center, 1480 Lay St., Winnemucca.

Those attending will learn about tips and planning for healthy aging, healthier eating habits for those in your care and successful ways to handle difficult behaviors of those in your care. Continuing education units are available.
