School board to discuss new superintendent search

WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County School District Board of School Trustees will be holding their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the district office boardroom, 310 E. Fourth St.

The meeting begins with the call to order, public comment, superintendent's report and possible approval of warrants.

Three presentations are scheduled, including possible approval for the Lowry Key Club to travel to Lake Tahoe for the Polar Plunge on March 17. The Key Club will also present a proposal to travel to Santa Clara, Calif., for the 66th Annual Key Club District Convention April 13 - 15. Also scheduled is a presentation from Sonoma Heights Elementary School.

Agenda items include consideration of the process to replace the superintendent and discussion and possible action on the grant of an easement/right away request on property connected to Lowry High School in conjunction with a proposed housing development.

A review of the 10-year financial history of the district is also scheduled.

The board will also review and possibly adopt various policies, including employees self-reporting arrests and crimes; head injuries; and staff travel.

Also scheduled is possible approval of a letter of engagement with Drake, Rose and Associates for the year ending June 30, 2012.

A review of the new graduation rate formula for Nevada and the impact on the district is scheduled for discussion only.
