School board give recognition awards

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - School board recognition for the month of August spotlighted eight deserving people on Aug. 8.

Jan Morrison recognized Patsy Young for all her time and hard work with the Austin School. It does not matter what event and when, she is there to lend a hand. She helps set-up and take-down. She is an awesome volunteer and we are lucky to have her.

For July, Morrison recognized Kellie Young. She is invaluable for the elementary school in Austin and she is so dependable. She is just plain awesome.

Mark Lake chose Tim Knight for all his dedication and hard work with the football team.

Todd Thompson picked Mark Lake. He is a business owner and also coaches soccer. Lake gives a lot of his time and makes sacrifices for the high school soccer team.

Susan Davis recognized Morrison for all her hard work with Buildings and Grounds Committee and her commitment to the board. She is always positive and always a professional.

Anna Penola picked Paula Tomera for taking the challenging work at the Chambers of Commerce. She is motivated and enthusiastic with great ideas to better Battle Mountain. She has brought two movie nights in the park and started the first wine walk for Battle Mountain. Making Battle Mountain better will in turn make our schools better also.

Doug Longchamps chose Tammy Lowe who drives bus for the school and works maintenance during the summer. She is always smiling and willing to help anyone. She is an asset to our schools.

John Davis recognized Dan Baldini for his time and efforts with football and baseball. He not only is helping the kids during sports, but full time he is helps the kids through the juvenile office.
