School board announces September honorees

School board announces September honorees

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - John Davis recognized Max Bunch because of his work with young adults to get their education. Education is priority for Bunch and he is greatly appreciated.

Mark Lake recognized Sheila Miller last month, but wanted to present it to her in person. For this month, he recognized Ron Dobbs, who is retired and volunteers his time to coaching soccer and being so giving to the kids.

Todd Thompson wanted to recognize Ellie Layton for all her time teaching kids how to play the piano and all her time teaching in the classroom and music.

Susan Davis wanted to recognize Rick Lawson for all his time in maintenance. He fills in bus driving and keeps the schools warm, cool and running for our kids.

Anna Penola recognized Sondra Torgerson for teaching almost 30 years. After graduating from Battle Mountain, she left but came back to teach and coach girls volleyball. She is great role model for our girls.

Doug Longchamps recognized Worth Nelson for being a great coach in basketball and baseball for many years at Battle Mountain High School. His is loved by his team and fans.

Jan Morrison recognized Alex Juvera because of him bringing the 4-H program to Austin Schools last spring. The kids loved him and his Lego Robotics Program. They thought he was awesome.
