Starlynn Schneider, who was initially charged with child neglect and principal to statutory seduction, and arrested later on further charges, pleaded guilty per a plea agreement June 2 to contributing to the delinquency of a minor and unlawful trespass upon land, both misdemeanors.
She was sentenced in the Argenta Justice Court by Justice of the Peace Max Bunch to 180 days in jail with credit for 25 days served, to serve five days in jail and 150 days suspended upon special conditions for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
For the unlawful trespass charge, she was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
The first amended criminal complaint alleges that on Feb. 12 the defendant entered the property at 425 Weaver Ave. after having been warned by the owner not to trespass. The other criminal complaint alleges that on Feb. 24 and 25, Schneider knowingly encouraged a 14-year-old to engage in delinquent acts.
Schneider was initially arrested March 5 at the corner of Broad and Eighth streets for child abuse. She was originally charged by the district attorney's office with child neglect and principal to statutory sexual seduction in a case involving Vernon Scott Green, 24.
Green was arrested March 4 in the lobby of the Lander County Sheriff's Office for statutory sexual seduction and was charged with the same offense by the district attorney.
Their arraignments were held March 7 in the justice court.
On Feb. 27 at 9:20 a.m., the sheriff's office was informed of a complaint that an adult was having sexual relations with an underage juvenile, according to Undersheriff Robert Quick.
Deputies investigated this complaint which resulted in the arrests of Green and Schneider.
Green was also arrested April 19 on suspicion of shooting a dog.
Both of Green's cases are being reviewed by the district attorney and negotiations are continuing, said DA Angie Elquist.[[In-content Ad]]
