Safe Haven returns to Battle Mountain Oct. 12

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain Arts Presenters will present Safe Haven at the Battle Mountain Civic Center on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. This is the fourth time that the band has performed in Battle Mountain and they have built up quite a local following.

"It is a great time to bring them back because they just released a new album in August called 'Chasing the Sun,'" said Ami Rogers, president of the Battle Mountain Arts Presenters. "Safe Haven is a great addition to our roster this year. Their music is unique because it is contemporary and we already know that it appeals to the youth in our community."

The First Baptist Church of Battle Mountain has hosted the band several times, with very positive results. It will be collaborating with BMAP to provide volunteer support and a home cooked meal for the band.

Safe Haven's website aptly describes them as a band that "can't be described simply by their music because of what they do off the stage.

Whether it's hanging out with fans until every single one has left the building, sponsoring an orphanage in Guatemala (and flying down on their own dime to personally deliver Christmas presents), or even donating one third of all album sales to provide mosquito nets for the less fortunate in Malawi, Africa, Save Haven rocks the floor, walls and doors out of every venue they play because they play with a purpose."

In addition to the public performance in the evening, Safe Haven will be hosting a youth leadership workshop complete with an "MTV Unplugged" style performance and a round table focusing on volunteerism, community service and using your talents to do some good in the world. The Battle Mountain Arts Presenters are dedicated to bringing diverse, professional performing arts experiences to rural Nevada. The group is 100-percent volunteer led and is open to anyone with a passion for the arts who would like to volunteer.

BMAP relies on the generosity of individual donors, local businesses and grant funding from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts to present a wide range of performing artists each year.
