The Safe Haven Rescue Zoo is hosting an evening of dinner, cocktails, presentations, raffles and auctions to raise money to support its efforts in saving wild animals.
This will be the zoo's seventh annual fundraiser and is scheduled for May 17 at 5 p.m. at the Winnemucca Convention Center.
The zoo is located in Imlay on 160 acres of property. It is part of the Safe Haven Wildlife Refuge which was founded in 2000 in Illinois. The Safe Haven Rescue Zoo provides holding facilities for wild animals in need at no cost.
The group's mission is to provide lifelong care for several species of wild animals, including Siberian tigers, mountain lions, bears, foxes and others. Safe Haven coordinators also work extensively to provide education and outreach services to youth groups, adult groups, and schools.
All proceeds from the fundraiser event will go directly toward supporting the zoo's rescue efforts.
Tickets for the event are $35 each, but eight-seat tables can be purchased for $350. Table sponsorship comes with gifts, a special raffle and inclusion on all related media and signage.
Amanda Sanchez from KOLOTV will be the event's emcee and auction items include Reno Air Race tickets, a Burning Man ticket, a golf outing, a Las Vegas condo stay, an Eldorado Hotel and Casino package for two, Safe Haven merchandise and more. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.
Tickets are almost sold out for the event so anyone interested in attending is encouraged to buy tickets soon. Tickets can be purchased by calling Safe Haven at (775) 538-7093 or emailing safehavenwildlife1@gmail.com.
Guests at the event will also have the opportunity to schedule tours at the zoo. Although Safe Haven works with many school groups, scout troops and other organizations, it is not open to the public without advance scheduling.
