IMLAY - A great time was had by all at Safe Haven Rescue Zoo's recent wine and dessert tasting "Just Desserts" fundraiser at Art Source in Reno. Wildlife art, jewelry, faux furs and throws and other merchandise was for sale, with a percentage donated to Safe Haven.
The merchandise sales will continue until year-end. When visiting Reno this holiday season, stop in at Art Source, located at 9748 S. Virginia St.
The next day, Reno-based Fox News 11 visited Safe Haven and aired a story on the organization on Nov. 1. The Fox 11 News team spent several hours videotaping Safe Haven's rescued friends, including enrichment demonstrations and big cat feedings.
Most importantly, they learned about how the sanctuary provides lifetime care for animals that are abandoned or illegally owned and confiscated.
Safe Haven's 2012 calendars are available for purchase at Khoury's on Grass Valley Road and will soon have Safe Haven's new T-shirts on sale as well.
Calendars are $15 each and include beautiful pictures of Safe Haven's resident animals and their rescue stories. T-shirts are $20 each and feature tiger pictures on white T-shirts with slogans "On the Prowl" and another with "Sleep With a Tiger Tonight" plus a red fox on a black T-shirt with scripted "Foxy."
All proceeds from sales directly benefit Safe Haven's rescued animals.
Safe Haven's 2012 Annual Fundraiser at the Winnemucca Convention Center will be on May 19.
Safe Haven tours are available by appointment. Please contact them at (775) 538-7093 to schedule a visit.
