WINNEMUCCA - On Oct. 12,  the Saddle Up for St. Jude trail ride,  hosted by  C Horse Ranch, raised $3,100 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and its mission of finding cures and saving children from cancer and other deadly diseases.

There were 18 riders that rode an 11-mile loop, there was a barbecue and prizes awarded once everyone got back and settled in.  

An award for the most money collected went to Tracy Trokie of Battle Mountain; high money awards also went to Linsay Burger, Jodi Unhussubscay and Cadance Mercado.

Sponsors for food, prizes and advertising included Khoury's Supermarket, Raley's Supermarket, Walmart, Ron's Seed & Supply, Big R, Jim Cisna Horseshoe Art, It's All About You, Jim Dandy Productions, Earl and Debbie Gordo, Winnemucca Publishing, KWNA Radio and Silver Pinyon Journal.

"We look forward to coming together for a meaningful opportunity to enjoy our horses and the great outdoors," said Eileen Bailey, event coordinator. "The community came together to make this trail ride a success and to raise funds to help treat childhood cancer and other deadly diseases."

This is the eighth year that C Horse Ranch has held the Saddle Up for St. Jude event.  

With a daily operating cost of $1.7 million, St. Jude hospital depends mostly on public contributions and fundraising events like Saddle Up for St. Jude.
