There's no doubt about it: Winnemucca will rock during Run-A-Mucca 2014.
The 13th annual motorcycle rally is scheduled from today through Sunday, May 25, and participants can expect everything from a poker run and walk, a bike show, memorial service and the now-famous "Burning Bike" spectacular to free entertainment from four great rock bands. "Savannah Blue" will get things started and keep things rolling during the day on Friday and Saturday. This six-piece northern California band is not just a tribute to one of the great Southern Rock Bands, but a salute to all of the best, from Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers and The Outlaws to The Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet and .38 Special.
Even some of the more obscure acts, like Wet Willie, Blackfoot and the Ozark Mountain Dare Devils, are included in this all-hits celebration of the Southern Rock Era.
The band includes founding members Dean Fisher on lead guitar and Mike Cochran on bass. Scott Johnson is on lead guitar and vocals, with Don Nehasil on drums and vocals and Mike Macchi on vocals and harmonica.
Saturday evening, "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" will take the stage at 7 p.m. Formed in 2011, the "Ultimate ZZ Top tribute" not only plays ZZ Top's music down to every detail, but also pays homage to America's best rock and roll bands.
The band includes Tim Narducci on guitar and vocals. Narducci founded Systematic (Elektra Records) and has participated in numerous tours including Ozzfest 2001 with all the original members of Black Sabbath, Godsmack, Staind, Disturbed, Slipknot and Linkin Park. He even opened for Metallica at the Fillmore in San Francisco and HardRock in Las Vegas.
Chris "Cornbread" Lombardo, on bass and vocals, toured extensively with Vicious Rumors on the European festival circuit. Ron Redeen, on drums, is a sought-after studio drummer. With the trio's professionalism and love for ZZ Top, Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority Marketing and Special Events Coordinator Darrel Field says this is one lineup you won't want to miss.
Sunday afternoon, "Zero Gravity" will play sets at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the Model T. With sounds that mimic Collective Soul, Volbeat, Megadeth, RUSH and Metallica, this band is sure to draw in crowds with their mix of today's rock mingled with some of the great classics.
Sunday night, "Autograph" will get things rocking from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance for Run-a-Muccans to see the group that brought the smash rock anthem and billboard hit, "Turn Up The Radio."
With over one million albums sold worldwide, and major tour experiences with Motley Crue, Dio, Van Halen, Aerosmith and more, these Southern California musicians will wow crowds with their own brand of hard rock music.
The band is comprised of members Steve Lynch, Randy Rand, Simon Daniels and Marc Weiland. From 1984 to 1987, the group turned out three albums and sold out shows across the globe. When they disbanded in 1989, a reunion was both inevitable and essential.
Now, 25 years later, Winnemucca will get to participate in Autograph's collective jam once again. "Get ready to 'Turn Up the Radio' all over again," said Field. "Our Run-A-Mucca guests are going to love Autograph and our other bands, and so will our local community."
Field added, "We want everyone to come out and enjoy themselves during these free concerts."
