The tournament featured 44 teams and was won by Jim Whisman and Reuben Martin with a gross score of 134. Jeff Carter and Jeff Patterson were second in the first flight with a 135. Gabby Roman and Jerry Jakich placed third with a 141 and fourth place was won by Vince Mendiola and David Stoker with a 145.
The net portion of the first flight was won by Mark Carlson and Mike Blankenship with a 124. Mike Grim and Chip Hanley earned second place with a 129. Ken Mullins and Kevin Mullins took home third with a 130 and Clint Patterson and Kenny Moore were fourth at 131.
First place gross in the second flight was won by Karen Adams and Dave Adams with a 161. Manny Esquivel and Mike Adams placed second with a 162, while Dewey Guercio and John Moore were third with a 164. Fourth place gross was won by Robert Velasquez and Lenny Jakich with a 168.
In the net portion of the second flight, Paul Meckley and Michael Meckley were first with a 122. Karen Aldrich and Lori Warnert tied for second with Shane and Tara Havens at 123. Wes Teague and Joe Leal placed fourth with a 127.
Recology sponsored the longest drive for the men each day. Mendiola won a .17 caliber rifle for longest drive on Saturday, May 11, and Carter won a Henry rifle for longest drive on Sunday, May 12.
Longest drive for the ladies was sponsored by Winnemucca Air Service and was won by Chompoo Landt on Saturday, May 11. She received a silver watch from Rice Jewelry and Tara Havens received a gold watch for her long drive on Sunday, May 12.
Closest to the pin was sponsored by Newmont Mining. Jeff Patterson won a .22 pistol on Saturday, May 11, for being 4 feet, 7 inches, from the pin. Whisman won a 9 mm pistol for being closest to the pin on Sunday, May 12.
Barrick Gold/Turquoise Ridge sponsored the ladies closest to the pin; however, none of the ladies had a close shot during the two days.
Goldcorp/Marigold Mining sponsored the putting contest which was won by Roman; he received a "gold" putter for his efforts.
In the raffle, Carlson and Patterson won University of Nevada sweatshirts from Rice Jewelry. Mike Grim won a $70 gift certificate to dinner at Winners Casino. Mike Blankenship won a dozen Titleist golf balls and Pat Michael won a dozen Pinnacle golf balls from Walmart. Roger Wood won a $50 gift certificate sponsored by the Martin and Whisman won a bag of tees from Walmart.
The Rotary Club would like to offer a special thanks to Rick and Peggy Longhurst and their crew at the Winnemucca Golf Course along with the many sponsors that made this tournament so successful. Proceeds of this event support youth projects in Winnemucca including; Literacy packets for every kindergarten student, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards to two students at Lowry and donations to various clubs and activities at Lowry High School.
