Ronald "Red" McKinnon passed away Aug. 17, 2013, after a lengthy illness. Red was born on June 8, 1956, in Wallace, Idaho, to Richmond and Peggy (McCarver) McKinnon. Red is survived by his wife, Kathy, children, Sarah McKinnon, Courtney McKinnon, Jason McKinnon, Aaron McKinnon, Teckla (Joe) Janacaro, Brice (Jess) Reed; nine grandchildren; and sisters and brothers.
During his illness, Red fought hard to regain his health in hopes of being able to do what he loved best: take road trips with his wife and return to the mining industry to work. Red's knowledge and experience working in the mining industry was vast. His work experiences spanned from Nevada, Idaho, New York, Connecticut, California, and Colorado to Alaska. Through his love and dedication to the industry, Red became a leader and was respected by his peers. He made many lifelong friends through his work, most of whom have become more like family.
Red will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A special thanks to many: Gordon Pratt-for always being there for Red, Roy Christiansen, Cindy - Red loved you, Robert and Bob McKinnon, Nancy Sheer, Connie McKinnon, Kenny McKinnon, Shuai, Kim Brewer and family, Sid Tolbert - thanks for not firing me, Paul and Joyce Huet, Wendy and Mike Haaglund. I love all of you.
