Roger was born in Lansing, Mich., on Aug. 5, 1937, to Delmar and Edna Gee. He was the oldest of eight children. Delmer and Edna lived in Michigan and in Illinois before settling in Wisconsin when Roger was a teenager. He attended Pardeeville High School and played football, basketball and baseball. Roger worked as a mechanic for Columbia County Highway Department before he retired in 2003. Prior to working for the county, Roger worked as a mechanic for Bill's Garage, was employed at Oscar Mayer, and was an independent contractor that built log homes, including his own. He enjoyed deer hunting in Columbia County, duck hunting at Frenchs Creek, fishing (wherever he could), camping, wood working and many other activities. He loved sports and stayed involved by coaching his children and grandchildren when possible.

Roger was a "bigger than life" man. He had a booming laugh and a huge heart. Those that knew him loved him. He had many "adopted" kids that looked up to him.
