Robert F. 'Bob' Key - Obituary

Robert F. "Bob" Key, Hermiston, Ore., passed away Aug. 22, 2013, at his home at the age of 80 years. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Orovada Community Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Orovada Community Club, P.O. Box 12, Orovada, Nev. 89425 or through the funeral home. Concluding services and interment will be in the Orovada Cemetery, Orovada, Nev.

Mr. Key was born Dec. 30, 1932 in Umapine, Ore., the son of Clark G. and Bernice I. Franklin Key. He attended Umapine Grade and High School. On Feb. 4, 1952 he married Rosemary Whipple. The couple moved to Orovada, Nev., in 1958, where he spent 52 years farming. The couple had three children, Drue, Mike and Kelley. Mr. Key was very active in civic affairs, including helping develop Orvada, building of Community Center, Orovada Volunteer Fire Department, serving on the Radio and Television District Boards, Orovada Soil District and helped build the Orovado Community Church, where he served as a deacon. Rosemary preceded him in death in 2001. He later married Karen Adams of Hermiston on Sept. 21, 2002. After retiring in 2010, the couple moved to Hermiston. Mr. Key lived each of his 80 years to the fullest. Traveling and spending time with family and friends (which were many as he never knew a stranger) were his greatest joys.

He is survived by his wife Karen Key at the home, two sons Drue (Linda) Key and Mike (Julie) Key, a daughter Kelley (Gale) Griggs, step-children Sandy and Pam Adams, Jan Casper, four sisters Noanie Graham, Jo Ann Olsen, Irene Padgett, June Murdock, three brothers Jim, Don and Gene Key, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Richard Key. [[In-content Ad]]
