Robert (Bob) Haggard

Robert (Bob) Jay Haggard, of Winnemucca, Nev, died from complications related to cancer May 28, 2014 at his home with his wife, Brenda, of 45 years by his side. Bob was 64.

He was born April 13, 1950 to Jay and Faye Haggard in Alamosa, Colo. As a young man, Bob grew up in Santa Monica, Calif., and Overton, Nev.

His hobbies included surfing, water and snow skiing, fishing, hunting and camping. Bob was a very talented drummer who played with several rock and roll bands during the late 1960's in California, Nevada and Utah. His love of music was contagious and influenced two generations of family and friends.

Bob was a Certified Chief Power Engineer and worked for Nevada Power and Sierra Pacific Power Company for 30 years, retiring in 2002. During his retirement he was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Bob is survived by his wife Brenda Haggard, his daughter Tina (Dusty) Johnson of Winnemucca, Nev., his son Troy (Cheri) Haggard of Reno, Nev., four grandchildren, Kadin (Melanie) Haggard, Mason Johnson, Aubri Haggard and Chase Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved sister Carol Richardson.

He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with a huge heart. He was always there, whether you needed a hug, or a good laugh.

At his request, he will be cremated, and at a later date a memorial celebrating his life will take place with loved ones.[[In-content Ad]]
